The day after and the day before

toeI hope you had a wonderful Christmas! I started off my day-after-Christmas morning by visiting the doctor... I have had an infected big toe off and on for a few weeks, but I thought the round of antibiotics I took a couple of weeks ago to treat bronchitis had also cleared up the toe infection. But not so…even after soaking my foot repeatedly throughout the holidays, it still exploded last night, keeping me awake and swelling up my poor little toe. So I’m on yet another round of antibiotics and typing on my laptop with my feet up… (By the way, this is not my foot!)

Other than that, we had a great Christmas. Amy joined us for Christmas Eve and all day yesterday. My folks are here, and Stephanie is home from school, of course. Kyle and Marie arrived late yesterday afternoon, and we ate dinner and then opened gifts. Santa was good to me, bringing me a car GPS system among other awesome gifts.

Amy did a great job on Christmas this year. I worry (not the right verb, but will have to do…) about what she spent, as she only has about half of what she needs for her next apartment deposit due by early February. But money issues aside, she put a great deal of thought into her gifts. She and Stephanie combined forces and bought tickets for my husband and me to attend a concert tonight… the trans-Siberian orchestra, or something like that? (Check them out here.) They are supposed to be much like Mannheim Steamroller… Not only did Amy do well on shopping for the family, but she handled herself well around here. She’s nervous around me and my husband, but not Stephanie when they are one-on-one… but she seemed to relax a little as time went on. Santa gave her lots of cooking items, a bed frame, and various other necessary things for "life on your own".

We didn’t hear a word from Tommy… no surprise. And since he changed his phone number and chose not to share it, we can’t call him…

And tomorrow…well, it’s a big day for me. My birthday…and I will tell you fifty things about myself!
