My dad’s grandfather immigrated from Prussia when he was 17 years old.

I totaled our car on my birthday in 1983, or thereabouts. I swerved to miss a dog and hit a telephone pole instead…

I was recovering from hepatitis when I turned 21, and was not allowed to consume any alcohol. So my soon-to-be-husband put Tab in a wine bottle and served it to me. My first legal drink was at our wedding rehearsal dinner.

I used to work for Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlors. (I think they are gone now!) We built giant sundaes for the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race and the Kentucky Derby.

I have never broken any bones, but I have come close!

My mom had the mumps when she was pregnant with me. (That explains a lot, doesn’t it?) Neither she nor the doctor had any idea if there would be complications as a result of it… Draw your own conclusions…

I hate taking nasty-tasting liquid medicines and my husband always laughs at me.

I used to teach aerobics.

I saved my money from working at Farrell’s and bought myself a maroon tailor-made English riding habit that I wore on my grey Arabian horse. My dad was blown away, as he had never had a tailor made, $200 suit. (This would have been around 1973.)

I love cookies, but I am not too crazy about cake. Except angel food cake with chocolate icing…. I love that.

I hate hypocrites and would much prefer to tell it (and hear it) like it is… don’t play games with me!

I started ADN in the mid-90’s after I learned that my two early predictions (be a vet and adopt kids) were not necessarily going to co-exist.

I have a strong faith and firmly believe I am doing what God intends for me to do.

My family disrupted the placement of a teen girl from the Philippines. Afterwards the agency treated us like dirt…

I am going way soft on my dogs (and some would argue my youngest child) as I get older…

And last but not least…

Although I don’t want to be 50, the alternative is not good… so I am grateful for my own health, my healthy family, my awesome friends, and my myriad of blessings. I really am in a very good spot and that fact is not lost on me.

Hope you all have a wonderful time these last few days of 2006!
