riding down the mountain

A couple of days ago I blogged about how I had "dripped" posts in for several days and sneaked off to Colorado to herd cows. Well... I had SO MUCH FUN!!! Who KNEW that chasing cows on horseback would be SO MUCH FUN??? I have much more appreciation for what turns on a Border collie!

I rode more in those three days than I have ridden in ages. Breakfast rides, moonlight rides, lunch rides, cattle drives and just plain trail rides through the mountains. In between there was great food, a few Margaritas and some white wine, a little singin’ around the campfire and makin’ S’mores, four escapee moms discussing everything (and I do mean everything) from the moment we hit the car on Wednesday noon until we arrived home Sunday night at 9 PM. We were a bit quieter on the way home, admittedly. I’m not a candy-aholic, but an amazing amount of Hot Tamales and red licorice were consumed on both trips.

During the cattle drive, the two bulls in the pasture fought all the way down the hill in the pasture and into the pen. If I can pull a still shot from my few seconds of video, I’ll show you in the next post… two huge, head-to-head bulls. Didn’t faze me or my horse, but did bother a few folks who hadn’t been around such massive creatures before. Don’t tell anyone that I was video taping while riding… Did you know that there is no image stabilization lens designed to work on a dancing horse? When you stop a livery horse to take pictures and he sees the rest of his herd heading on down the mountain, he’ll raise a ruckus no matter how tired he is.

I am going to fire off this post and then I am going riding on my own (very lucky, very energetic) horse with my beautiful 10 year old daughter behind me. I decided I was going to have to do a MUCH better job of taking care of myself (and making time to play with Beth.) I didn’t do ATN work for a whole 3+ days! I just had fun. Did I mention I had fun? Have I told you it was FUN CHASING COWS?????

After you read this YOU should go out and play! I'll remind YOU and you remind ME!

I have cows across the street from me. You're welcome to come chase them.

Glad you had fun. It's easy to forget what fun is.
