I haven’t had a moment to crank out a blog this past couple of days. Yesterday was two therapy appointments and a doctor’s appointment—my
bad finger is going south yet again. I am on my third round of antibiotics, this time a med that will apparently kill off most anything, which no doubt means all the good bugs in my body will die too. So I can’t wait to see what the next couple of weeks bring! I have
my cousin here for the weekend, with her two cutie-pie boys. Nothing like a 15-month-old livening up the house. Beth has a swim meet tomorrow and needs to be there before any sane rooster shows his face. She had two friends over last night as part of her ongoing birthday celebration, and this morning we roller skated and had pizza for lunch.

I haven’t done any cooking yet for Thanksgiving, but only have my folks coming, besides Stephanie.
Dora’s therapy session yesterday went very well. I really like her therapist. We talked about “What does love look like?” Dora has a hard time answering that … she has no clue about the emotional aspect of love. She does, however, see the sparks between Beth and me. Another thing the therapist talked about was a
heartstring. She described it as the connection between a mom’s heart and her child’s heart. She said the connection between Dora and me was new, but it was there. She told Dora that Dora had something to do with making that heartstring thicker and stronger. She said I was doing my mom-job, but Dora had to do her kid-job. Later Dora and I talked about the heavy-duty heartstring between Beth and me, and I asked Dora to tell me how she knew I loved Beth and Beth loved me. One of Dora’s answers was, “Beth thinks about you all the time, and talks to you about her feelings.” I guess Dora is watching …
In the 24 hours since therapy, Dora has sent some fairly strong signals that she is not ready to commit to our family … but she “gave back to the family” in the form of manure moving today, and she received the perks of roller skating and other family fun … so hopefully she’s learning about the tradeoffs.
