Amy is moving into her apartment today. Apparently her 11 bags of stuff were moved over on Friday, but she has still been staying with her friend’s family. She arranged for me to be home this afternoon so she could pick up her mattress, box springs, a bike, a helmet, and a couple of pillows. She declined the vacuum cleaner, stating her place has central vac. Oh, and we donated a small television to the cause, as cable is also included in her rent.
She and one friend arrived first… and this was the same friend with whom Amy attended the homecoming dance last night. Julie saw them both there, and Amy spotted Julie as well. Amy commented on how beautiful Julie looked. Kyle wondered how Amy could attend when she wasn’t a student in the school? I wondered the same thing, but didn’t ask.
I opened the garage door for Amy, showed her what was hers to take, and gave her a bag of several mini loaves of home made bread. I wished her the best and then I went over to my duplex. Shortly thereafter, the mom and friend with whom Amy has been living arrived to load their van. I learned this mom works at Beth’s elementary school. Now isn’t that interesting? Can you imagine the conversation in the teacher’s lounge? Beth says this mom “helps at recess.”

Shortly after the two cars pulled out of the driveway, my phone rang. It was Amy, telling me she was “stuck in the car” and couldn’t get out to tell me she was done next door, so she was
calling me to tell me I could shut the garage door. When she first arrived, she said something about “getting stuff moved in and me coming to see the place.” I assured her if I was invited, I would come. For now, I'm numb.
