My home is my castle... or my barnyard

OK, I have decided since I was “on sabbatical” last week for several days, whatever readers I had went away… since no one except Dr. G has made one comment on my recent blogs!! As my fellow bloggers have been known to inquire… is anyone reading what I am writing???

I have really been struggling to catch up after my four day trip to Tennessee. I was physically exhausted and emotionally spent after dealing with nursing home issues, flat tires, and 1500 miles. I have been once again sewing like a mad woman (no comments please!) and hope to finish the 24th (wedding reception centerpiece) placemat today. (The machine worked fine for about ten placemats, then wigged out yesterday morning three times in a row, then worked fine all day... go figure!) Tomorrow it is on to cutting out two flower girl dresses… I am walking 4 miles a day to get in shape for this big event, so I seem to be in a perpetual state of tired…

I took my mom next door when she was here so she might have the privilege of seeing how Amy lived… As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. There is no way I want to invite someone who is content to live in such a mess to move into my new home this fall. (I spared you the pictures of several month's worth of "young lady" trash and underwear all over the place...) Question: How many Hardee's sacks does it take to completely cover a bedroom floor?

We meet tonight with the Navy recruiter. Amy’s current plan is to ship out in January, after the holidays. She said she didn’t want to miss my birthday, which I found ironic, since the only significance my birthday has had for her in the past is to make it an extra special day to make a point of ignoring me… The reality is, she wants to delay boot camp as long as possible and thinks it would be nice to be able to hang around here for the holidays. Sure, it would be nice, but it is way past only thinking about what Amy wants. The recruiter is supposed to be bringing us possible earlier ship-out dates. Last night my husband was brainstorming possible solutions for the potential issue of us moving into our home before Amy leaves for boot camp. None of his solutions involved moving her in with us. Thank you, thank you…

I know I have been all talk and no action regarding my interview with Foster Cline, but I need to type it up and I promised to send it to him first for proofing. So hopefully I can get that done this week, in between flower girl dresses, ADN newsletters and conference postcards, kids coming home for Easter, Navy meetings, and whatever else happens!

OK, Michelle, maybe while I am babysitting the sewing machine (it runs on its own but if a needle breaks or the thread breaks or runs out, I have to be there in a heartbeat!) I can transcribe the tape I made so I can get it all exactly right...

Thanks for the feedback!

My dearest cousin, I always read all of your blogs as well. I sit in my office and giggle and make my co-workers wonder what I'm doing! You are doing a great job and I also can't wait to hear about your interview with Foster!! I can't wait to see you on the 23rd, either! Donevon will be disappointed that he doesn't get to go hang out with Beth, though... Good luck getting your dresses done--wish I could offer some help!

Whine, whine, whine! How can I read your blog when I'm busy visiting you!!!!

Nobody's been reading mine either - even after I put some adorable pictures of me as a baby on there!

Go figure -- must have scared them away!

I think about 50 if they are big bags.

And 200 if they are small bags.

(I was never very good at Maths, so these are nice round numbers).

Happy Easter!
