It is really late and I was gone all evening to the first meeting of a new photography club, so even though I needed to, I hadn’t planned on blogging tonight. But I checked in on other blogs before heading off to bed and happened to catch
Adrienne’s blog about her new addition, Pepper. And I had already planned to respond to
Michelle’s blog about should I adopt again or not? So let me tell you what I am doing in the morning…

As soon as we drop the kids off at school, my neighbor and I are heading two hours south to check out a couple of Border collies available through a local rescue group. Check them out
here and read up on BEN and SID. I know, I know, I’m absolutely
crazy to get a second BC. Lots of folks think I am crazy to have the first BC. She’s intense, demanding, controlling and tons of fun to be around. She’s smart as all get-out. She loves me to pieces and has eyes only for me when we are in a crowd.
About a year ago I started talking about a second BC, but we were in major transition and I was just “thinking out loud.” A couple of weeks ago I found myself on the BC rescue site “just to see who was there…” and I was hooked. I'm most interested in Ben. I tentatively mentioned it to my husband, thinking he would blow it off pretty quickly. He didn’t! He was way more receptive than I expected. How many guys would acquiesce to having FOUR dogs?
Well, he’s a smart guy… he flat-out told me a few days ago (with a twinkle in his eye) that he knew he was better off “scratching my itch” with a dog than waiting for me to start talking about another kid! I told him I knew of a four year old boy needing a new placement and I hadn’t even mentioned it to him! He will tell anyone who will listen that I have a need to add one dependent a year—be it canine, equine, occasionally feline, or, yes, even homo sapien…
So… tomorrow I am off to do just that. We haven’t added a 2006 model yet, and I’m about out of time! I’d best get moving!
