My folks left this morning … I had them at the airport two hours before their flight! The older they get (they are 84 and nearly 84) the more stressed they get about missing their flight. Our local airport is the easiest place ever to go in and out of, so no doubt they sat there for an hour and 45 minutes … but they were happy! We had a fabulous time and as I hugged them good-bye, I was so thankful for another holiday to share with them.
I picked up Dora’s Penney’s pictures on the way home from the airport. When I showed her the 8 X 10, she said, “My eyes look sad.” Yes, they do. We picked out a pose with a very faint smile because her “bigger” smiles were fake.
Beth and I spent a couple of hours on math this afternoon. Homeschooling is going great … except math. We had a bad day yesterday, with both of us getting just a tad frustrated! Today was much better. I was a better teacher, she was a better student, and we covered (and learned) a great deal of material. When Kyle and Marie move here in a month, Marie will be trying to find a teaching job, but probably substitute teaching. My husband and I are going to barter help with buying a washer and dryer for some math tutoring … a win/win, because Marie’s dream job is to be a middle school math teacher! (Better her than me!)
We awake extra early in the morning because I am on television again. I will be discussing the Gary Stocklaufer case and the impact moving around might have on baby Max. That shouldn’t be hard … I’m gathering a few statistics about all the kids in foster care and how often they move … and then look out! I’ll let you know how it goes.
Oh, and I called my doc today and said, “NO MORE!” on the gut-destroying pills. He decided I could stop the meds and we’ll cross our fingers and hope 10 days of this latest antibiotic was enough. I should know by the weekend if it has worked. Are we having fun yet?

I am anxious to hear what is going on with the Stocklaufer family. If you see them, please send my well wishes.
